10 Questions: David Stremme

In conjunction with its season-ending top 10 lists, NASCAR.COM asked a number of drivers to answer the same 10 questions. Wednesday: Mike Wallace

David Stremme is one of the latest Midwest youngsters whose family background revolves around racing, to make a definite impact on the NASCAR Busch Series.

Stremme, 27, moved to FitzBradshaw Racing near the end of the 2004 season and will stage an assault on the 2005 Busch Series title driving the No. 14 Navy Dodge.

But first, Indiana native Stremme took time to sit down on the eve of accepting his kudos for finishing 10th in the Busch Series to answer 10 questions not specifically directed at his racing career.

1. What's your dream vehicle that you don't already own?

I'd have to say the Hummer -- because it's like a monster truck, but yet you get to drive it on the road. It's a really cool vehicle.

2. If time on the road weren't an issue, what would be your ideal pet?

I'd probably have a horse, because they're pretty cool. You can relax and go ride and probably not get hurt too much on them.

3. What's your biggest pet peeve while driving on the road?

Probably with not having any patience for other people and just trying to be patient with others. It's crazy because I'm not used to running so slow on the road.

4. You travel a lot, so what's your worst hotel experience?

It would be in Daytona Beach, at one of the hotels there. There was no (hot) water in there and it was just horrible. It was very terrible. I stayed there a couple hours and left. I couldn't deal with it any more.

5. What's your favorite food?

I'd say spaghetti, with a little sugar in it. You've got to have some sugar to make the sauce sweet -- but spaghetti, definitely.

Anyplace on the road have the best spaghetti?

If I'd go on the road I'd say Mexican food in Darlington. Actually one of the Navy sailors, we were talking about it and he knew exactly where I was talking about. It was very, very good Mexican food, of all places, in Darlington.

6. If you had to choose, would it be being honest, or being nice?

I'd say I'd have to go with being honest -- I changed my mind -- because if you're honest you're going to be nice to everybody.

7. What's your fondest childhood memory?

Probably Christmas time -- multi-Christmas times spending time with the family.

8. What would your dream date be? Where and with whom?

I don't know if I'm pronouncing her name right, but Charlize Theron. A very, very beautiful girl from, I think, Africa is where she's from. That would be really neat. She seems like a really cool person to hang out with.

Where would be the ideal place to take her?

Anywhere she wanted to go (laughing).

9. What's your worst prank, either perpetrated by you, or done to you?

We played a prank on our PR rep this past year, Spencer Andrews. We told him there was a PR meeting off of Turn 4 at Nashville out in a big, open field.

He gathered him and two or three other of his PR partners and they went out there and there was nothing there in the field. We actually took the NASCAR itinerary and put it right in there and he fell for it. It was a really good prank.

How long did he wait out there?

He was out there for a good 30 minutes, looking around (laughing).

10. What would you consider your "Welcome to NASCAR" moment?

When they ask you to go find the 'long weight.' They send you around to trailers and ask you to find the long weight. I caught on real quick and didn't go to ask.

But I've seen them send other people to go ask for the long weight.
