DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Dale Earnhardt Inc. has entered its No. 1 Chevrolet for driver John Andretti in Sunday's Subway 400 at North Carolina Speedway in Rockingham

The entry, which was made in time for the team to receive championship points, gives the event 45 entries after Jay Robinson Racing canceled its entry Wednesday for driver Larry Gunselman.

"With the short turnaround between Daytona and Rockingham, we didn't want to sacrifice the Subway 400 because we're hoping to run the whole season," DEI spokesman Steve Crisp said. "We've got something we think may come through (sponsor for the season).

"So some of our valued partners: Snap-On Tools, Nilla Wafers, Nutter Butter and Chevrolet, The American Revolution came on for one race to sponsor the car."

Several brands of Kraft Foods sponsored Andretti at Speedweeks 2004 at Daytona International Speedway, where he finished 13th.

DEI's news followed an announcement Wednesday morning that Pennzoil would sponsor Roush Racing's No. 99 Ford for Jeff Burton in two weeks at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Burton's car is one of several full-time Cup programs from 2003 that remain unsponsored.

Ultra Motorsports' No. 7 Dodge and Bill Davis Racing's No. 23 Intrepid competed during Speedweeks 2004 at Daytona International Speedway but have not entered at Rockingham.
