FONTANA, Calif. -- Here is a lap-by-lap account of the Auto Club 500 at California Speedway:

Lap 250: Checkered flag. Jeff Gordon wins.

Lap 249: Bobby Labonte is out of gas. Jeremy Mayfield and Kasey Kahne also out of fuel.

Lap 248: Joe Nemechek out of fuel.

Lap 247: Bobby Labonte gaining on Jeff Gordon.

Lap 221: Kasey Kahne slides and loses second place to Bobby Labonte.

Lap 204: Jeff Gordon leads again after pit stops have cycled through.

Lap 204: Dale Jarrett scrapes the wall.

Lap 197: Green-flag pit stops begin. This should be the last round.

Lap 192: Jeff Gordon takes the lead back from Kasey Kahne

Lap 166: Kasey Kahne takes the lead again.

Lap 164: Kurt Busch scrapes the wall. No caution. Morgan Shepherd heads to garage.

Lap 158: Restart. Jeff Gordon still leads after a long caution to clean up Jeff Green's debris.

Lap 151: Many drivers (positions 16-29) elect to pit.

Lap 150: Scott Wimmer on pit road with a problem. Elliott Sadler also pits early in the caution.

Lap 149: Caution for Jeff Green. Looks like an engine failure.

Lap 146: Restart. Jeff Gordon is the leader.

Lap 142: Leaders make pit stops. Jeff Gordon wins race off pit road.

Lap 140: Caution for debris.

Lap 131: Jeff Burton and Ricky Rudd have a scrape. No caution.

Lap 130: No. 4 Jimmy Spencer heads to garage with possible engine problem.

Lap 125: Midway point. In the midst of a long green-flag run.

Lap 106: Jimmie Johnson takes the lead from Kasey Kahne.

Lap 100: Brian Vickers scrapes the wall, but keeps going.

Lap 98: Green flag. Restart. 33 cars on the lead lap. Greg Biffle has a problem on the restart. No caution.

Lap 92: Leaders pit. Kasey Kahne wins race off pit road.

Lap 91: Caution out for debris in Turn 3. Kurt Busch pits to fix damage before pit road opens.

Lap 86: Jeff Gordon thinks he may have a tire going down. Currently in sixth place.

Lap 83: Greg Biffle takes the lead back. Possibly had an ignition box problem.

Lap 82: Kasey Kahne takes the lead briefly.

Lap 67: Greg Biffle takes the lead from Jeff Gordon.

Lap 66: Jeff Gordon takes the lead.

Lap 63: Green flag. Restart. Matt Kenseth leads. Ward Burton spins out and gets back on track. No caution.

Lap 58: Caution. Kurt Busch spins out and takes Rusty Wallace with him. Michael Waltrip experiences mechanical problems.

Lap 56: Green flag. Matt Kenseth leads.

Lap 52: Kyle Petty heads to the garage.

Lap 52: Matt Kenseth wins the race off pit road.

Lap 51: No. 98 Todd Bodine has a mechanical failure. Caution is out. Kasey Kahne slips in Bodine's oil, but does not hit the wall. Jeff Gordon takes the lead.

Lap 45: Jeff Gordon gaining on Kasey Kahne.

Lap 35: Jeff Gordon takes second place from Ryan Newman.

Lap 31: Green flag. Kasey Kahne leads.

Lap 26: Tony Stewart 39th after multiple stops to fix damage to his car.

Lap 24: Kasey Kahne wins the race off pit road.

Lap 23: Pit stops begin.

Lap 22: Stanton Barrett hits the wall hard. First caution. Barrett climbs out of the car OK.

Lap 18: Ryan Newman concerned about overheating due to debris on his grill.

Lap 11: Kasey Kahne ans second-place Ryan Newman pulling away.

Lap 7: Tony Stewart has another brush with Jeff Gordon. No caution, but Stewart has a little damage.

Lap 6: Rusty Wallace and Tony Stewart brush. No caution.

Lap 4: Kasey Kahne takes back the lead.

Lap 2: Joe Nemechek takes the lead. No. 09 Joe Ruttman heading to garage.

Lap 1: Kasey Kahne holds off Joe Nemechek to lead the first lap.

Green flag: Kasey Kahne and Joe Nemechek lead the field.
