Connecticut man plans to build domed track

PLAINFIELD, Conn. (AP) -- A Connecticut developer has high hopes of luring NASCAR races to the eastern part of that state.

Gene Arganese says he has plans to build a $400 million domed track next to the Plainfield Greyhound Park.

The new 350-acre facility would incorporate the dog track and include retail shops, a hotel complex and a trade show venue.

The developer says NASCAR hasn't agreed to hold races at the track, but he expects the Nextel Cup races to come to Plainfield a year or two after the facility is built.

The new track could be the first domed auto racing stadium in the world. It would also host concerts and home, boat and trade shows.
