Ward Burton: Dodge/Save Mart 350 preview

From Team Press Release June 23, 2004
2:44 PM EDT (1844 GMT)

Ward Burton on Sunday's Dodge/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway:

"You've got to qualify up front if you want to have a chance at a good finish at a road course. There are few places to pass at Sears Point and there's a lot of follow the leader going on. Obviously, you need to stay out of trouble too. You find yourself off course and waiting for a tow truck to get you out of the sand and you're in a world of hurt. Patience is a key, qualifying is key and racing the racetrack is also a key to success at Sears Point or any other road course. From what I understand, they've repaved the track and it's really smooth and fast, so we'll see how that affects everyone. We've got a pretty good NetZero Chevrolet this weekend. We spent a day testing at Virginia International Raceway a couple of weeks ago and we were pretty satisfied with what we've got. We were pretty disappointed in our finish last weekend and we lost a couple in the point standings. We're still within shouting distance of the Top-15, but we can't afford to!

have any more races like last week. I think this Haas CNC Racing team is looking forward to getting to Sears Point to see what we've got."
