From Team Press Release August 19, 2004 04:15 PM EDT (20:15 GMT)
Ward Burton will make his 345th NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start when the green flag drops for the GFS Marketplace 400 at Michigan International Speedway. Right now, it doesn't even matter what track we are going to this weekend; we just know we need to finish the race. The last three races have been so disappointing for us because we have been running so well and then been hit with problems. This NetZero Racing team has been working so hard, and it's a shame to see our season taking the turn it has lately. We need to go out there like we have for the past couple of weeks and do whatever we need to do to make sure we are running at the end. So much of this stuff is beyond our control, but it doesn't make it any less frustrating." We qualified pretty well in Michigan the last time around and had a couple of good practice runs. The NetZero Chevrolet was a little off during the race, but we were able to make some adjustments to it to help us and it got better and better as the day went on. Unfortunately, we had some mechanical problems and we couldn't bring home a good finish. Bill is bringing back a different car than we had in June. He and the guys have really done a lot of work on these bodies, so hopefully we can get ourselves out of this rut that we've been in. We've got good Hendrick horsepower and that's what you need at Michigan. Maybe a little bit of good luck thrown in would be nice too." |
