NASCAR.COM's Ryan Smithson says Jeremy Mayfield was the class of the field in Happy Hour at Texas Motor Speedway, but he'll start 43rd after changing an engine on Friday.

Dave Blaney also turned some heads in Saturday's final practice, posting the second-fastest time.

NASCAR.COM's Ryan Smithson reports that while the Busch Series cars had sunny conditions for their practice and qualifying efforts on Thursday, the Nextel Cup teams were greeting with cloudy skies and cooler temperatures on Friday.

Still, it appears the rest of the weekend will be overcast. While rain was a concern earlier this week, the forecast has improved recently, as now just a slight chance of rain looms for the weekend.

Just after Busch Series Happy Hour, NASCAR.COM's Lee Montgomery says big crowds and fast speeds are expected this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.

The track has yet to crown a repeat champion. The racing surface has undergone some changes recently, but drivers and track officials are happy with the changes. Also, as always, look for tires to be an issue.
