FX locks NASCAR documentary-style reality series

FX orders eight one-hour episodes of "NASCAR DRIVERS: 360" featuring NASCAR NEXTEL CUP SERIES drivers: Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Kevin Harvick, Jeremy Mayfield, Jamie McMurray, Ward Burton, Casey Mears, Scott Wimmer, Brian Vickers, Kenny Wallace and Rusty Wallace

Series premieres on Friday, May 14th, at 7:30 PM PT / 10:30 PM ET immediately following the Busch Series Race from Richmond on both coasts

LOS ANGELES, May 6, 2004 – FX has placed an order for eight episodes of an unscripted series featuring some of the top drivers of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, it was announced jointly by FX Networks President and CEO Peter Liguori and NASCAR Vice President, Broadcasting and New Media Dick Glover.

Scheduled to premiere May 14 at 7:30 PM PT / 10:30 PM ET – immediately following the NASCAR Busch Series race from Richmond – NASCAR Drivers: 360 is a weekly, one-hour series that will give viewers an unvarnished look at 10 drivers, their families and teams, primarily focusing on their lives away from the tracks. Ward Burton, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Kevin Harvick, Jeremy Mayfield, Jamie McMurray, Casey Mears, Scott Wimmer, Brian Vickers, Kenny Wallace and Rusty Wallace will be featured in multiple segments over the course of the show's eight-week run.

"NASCAR drivers are fearless, larger-than-life stars who participate in a high-risk sport," said Liguori. "This series aims to explore the dramatic, sometimes funny and entertaining day-to-day lives of these colorful personalities."

Glover added, "We are excited to work with FX and Tony Krantz to bring viewers inside the fascinating world of our sport and its great athletes. This unprecedented access will provide a unique perspective into the heart and soul of NASCAR drivers and teams."

Flame Television Chairman and CEO Tony Krantz (24, Sports Night), and Scott Messick (Survivor) are Executive Producers. FX and NASCAR began conversations about the development NASCAR Drivers: 360 in September of 2002. This continues expand the sport of NASCAR to mainstream audiences and thus increases the right exposure for its drivers, teams, tracks and sponsors.

Live NASCAR racing returns to FX this month and the schedule features three NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races, 13 NASCAR Busch Series races, and 16 Nextel Cup Happy Hours. FX has been a television partner of NASCAR with FOX Sports since the 2001 season.
