This marks the second time that NASCAR.COM has been nominated. The site won an Emmy for its TrackPass with PitCommand application in 2003, the first time the award was given to a sports web site. The awards will be presented as a part of the annual 2004 Primetime Creative Arts Awards on September 12, 2004 at the Shrine Auditorium. The Advanced Media Technology Emmy Award recognizes work that improves programming intended for broadcast, including: network, cable and satellite distribution. The other nominees in the category were: "Celebrity Mole, Yucatan"; "Jetix Cards Live!"; "2004 TV Land Awards"; "CSI: Miami Interactive"; "The View: His/Her Body test" and "NFL Sunday Ticket Game Tracker". PitCommand, a premium TrackPass feature developed in conjunction with Sportvision, Inc., is a GPS telemetry application that tracks the position for all 43 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series cars' on the track in real-time. New for the 2004 season, the PitCommand Quals application allows TrackPass members to follow Nextel Cup Qualifying and watch each qualifying driver race virtually against the pole sitter. Fans can also see each car's live RPM, speed, throttle and braking data. Each race day, TrackPass subscribers can customize their PitCommand experience with driver-specific dashboards, full-field leaderboards, a Top-10 mode, or an interactive Viewer's Choice mode. TrackPass provides live coverage of all NASCAR Nextel Cup Series practice, qualifying and race events, as well as all NASCAR Busch Series qualifying and race events. In addition, TrackPass features exclusive multimedia content, including in-car audio of nine top NASCAR Nextel Cup Series drivers, condensed video versions of NASCAR Nextel Cup Series races, originally produced multimedia content, event highlights, and live race audio coverage. For the first time ever online, NASCAR fans can watch live video from inside a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series truck, during select races during the 2004 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. NASCAR.COM's Live Ride-Along Video, in partnership with SPEED CHANNEL, includes four in-truck cameras that rotate among teams throughout the season, with teams announced the Tuesday before each race. NASCAR.COM also offers a separate highlight reel of the first 100 miles of each race for users who may be tuning in later in the broadcast. The cameras offer a unique perspective from the cockpit, allowing the viewer to see exactly what the driver sees as he sees it for the entire race. Live Ride-Along Video also features in-car audio, provided by FanScan, for the four drivers so viewers can listen in on the drivers while following them on the track. Sportvision, an Emmy award-winning interactive sports marketing and technology-company, is renowned for developing graphic broadcast enhancements, which include the RACEf/x graphics seen on all NASCAR Nextel Cup Series telecasts. The Sportvision RACEf/x system powers PitCommand by collecting and transmitting real-time vehicle data, such as throttle position, RPM, speed, braking, slip angle, G force, and many others, from every NASCAR Nextel Cup car five times every second. |
