It is clearly the most significant rookie trading card in the history of NASCAR collectibles. In fact, the 1991 Traks No. 1 Jeff Gordon rookie NASCAR card is arguably one of the top 10 racing cards of all time, rookie or not.

This historic collectible features an image of a fresh-faced Gordon in his Carolina Ford Dealers uniform on the front, with his stats on the back.

Through a special arrangement, the NASCAR.COM Superstore is now offering a slimited number of these original cards to the public. Again, this is an original, not a reproduction. Each card is in near mint to mint condition and comes with a one-screw holder for its protection.

Ironically, the Jeff Gordon rookie card was the first card in the very first Traks set ever released. Unfortunately, the Traks brand lasted only a few years before going out of business in 1995.

"Traks certainly left its mark on collecting with the Gordon rookie card," said trading card expert Mark Smith, an occasional consultant to the NASCAR.COM Collectible Q&A column. "There had been cards produced on Gordon in open-wheel cars, but this was his very first NASCAR trading card.

"Call it luck or call it foresight, but Traks caught the other card companies napping on this one. As far as cards with the potential to one day realize a significant appreciation in value, I think this is one of the best. Right now, it is still affordable, but in the long term, this card could be worth a lot."
