Petty's '65 T-Bird replicated in die-cast

The Pettys and the Wood Brothers were NASCAR's most dominant forces during the 1970s. Few rivaled the two families in on-track performance. So when third generation hot shoe Kyle Petty cast his lot with the Wood Brothers team in 1985, many saw it as a match made in NASCAR heaven.

While winless in his first season with the Stuart, Va.-based operation, Petty drove the 7/Eleven- sponsored No. 7 Ford Thunderbird to a dozen top-10 finishes in 28 starts and wound up a respectable ninth in NASCAR Cup Series points. That showing laid a solid foundation for Petty's first Cup victory at Richmond in February of '86.

Petty won once more in the '87 Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte while driving for the Wood Brothers. But more importantly, it was during his four-year tenure with the team that he matured into a legitimate victory contender.

Action Performance Companies replicated the 1985 No. 7 Kyle Petty 7/Eleven Thunderbird in 2003. Only 2556 pieces were produced. A limited number of those historic cars are still available at the NASCAR.COM Superstore.
