Lindsay Schrader of Bartlett High School will join the ranks of the basketball elite, as she has been chosen to participate in the 2005 McDonald's All American High School Basketball Girls Game as a member of the West squad.
As a McDonald's All American Game(R) team member, Lindsay Schrader will play among the top 24 female high school basketball players in the nation. Schrader averages 21 points-per-game and has been regarded as one of the top all-around players in the state of Illinois for the past three seasons. The two-time Illinois Miss Basketball finalist will take her talents to South Bend, Ind. next fall as she joins the Notre Dame Women's Basketball Team. Her coach is Denise Sarna.
The Girls Game will be played as a double header with the 28th annual McDonald's All American Game for boys. The Games will take place on Wednesday, March 30 at the University of Notre Dame's Joyce Center in South Bend, Ind. The Girls Game tips off at 5:30 p.m. (EST) and will broadcast on ESPN2 (March 31 at 5:00 p.m.), while the Boys Game starts at 8:00 p.m. (EST) and will broadcast LIVE on ESPN.
Net proceeds from both Games will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities(R) Chapters of South Bend and Fort Wayne, Ind. The Ronald McDonald House(R) program has provided a "home-away-from-home" for millions of family members of seriously ill children since its inception in 1974.
McDonald's All American(TM) alumni include such current and former NBA superstars as Michael Jordan (retired) and Magic Johnson (retired), Kevin Garnett (Minnesota Timberwolves), Carmelo Anthony (Denver Nuggets) and LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers), as well as Women's NCAA stars Shanna Zolman (Tennessee), Ann Strother (UConn), and Seimone Augustus (LSU).
