Mark Martin Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace both have celebrated in Victory Lane at the annual all-star race.

Martin won the 1998 event, while Wallace claimed the title in 1989 -- his Cup championship season.

Martin's improbable victory came after Jeff Gordon ran out of gas on the final lap.

Fourteen drivers have won the all-star race, and Wallace is one of six Cup champs to have turned the trick. The last one was Gordon, in 2001.

Kyle Busch and Travis Kvapil will make their first attempt to qualify for the All-Star Challenge in the Nextel Open.

Ryan Newman, in 2002, was the last driver to win the all-star race in his first attempt.
