Wallace hoping Nashville charm holds up

Kenny Wallace is one of the funniest guys in the Busch Series, but his record at Nashville Superspeedway is nothing to make jokes about.

Wallace has two top-10 finishes in six starts at Nashville, including a second-place effort earlier this season. He finished nearly 15 seconds behind Reed Sorenson that night.

"We would like to be a little quicker this time but it is going to be tough to beat Reed Sorenson," Wallace said. "We would like to win this time."

Wallace is already off to a great start in that respect. On Wednesday night, he won a special invitational dirt stock car race at Ohio's Eldora Speedway, beating track owner Tony Stewart to the checkered flag.

Then on Thursday, the St. Louis native played in the Albert Pujols charity golf tournament.

With his ninth-place finish at Dover, Wallace moved around Ashton Lewis Jr. for fifth place in the Busch Series standings, 230 points behind leader Carl Edwards.

After getting caught up in a huge accident Talladega four races ago, Wallace was in 10th place. However, he's strung together three top-10s since then, including back-to-back ninths.

Now it's back to Nashville's 1 1/3-mile concrete oval for Saturday night's Federated Auto Parts 300. It's a track where Wallace's ppc Racing team has scored a pair of victories in 13 starts.

"I'm looking forward to having a good week but most of all just looking forward to going to Nashville and running as well as we did last time," Wallace said.
