Newman, a Nextel Cup Series regular, went 186.438 mph in his Dodge to take the top spot. Earlier, he qualified second to Jimmie Johnson for Sunday's USG Sheetrook 400 Cup race. Kasey Kahne was second in Busch qualifying at 184.989, giving Dodge the front row. Chevrolets took the next three spots with Kyle Busch at 184.281, J.J. Yeley at 184.193 and Kevin Harvick at 183.187. "I knew I had a heck of a lap,'' Newman said. ``I knew it was going to be hard to beat. "Chicagoland has always been a good track for us, but, in some ways, I feel we have some unfinished business there in the Busch Series." This is Newman's second Busch Series race at Chicagoland. In 2001, Newman earned the NBS pole at the speedway but finished 26th, after being involved in an incident with a lapped car. "We clearly had the car to beat that day and we were running down the race leader when there we collided with a lapped. "We have a different crew this time, but I think a victory this Saturday would make the the race four years ago a little less."
