NASCAR announced Tuesday that two penalties have been issued to NASCAR Busch Series competitors as a result of rules infractions last weekend at Watkins Glen International.

Tony Stewart, driver of the No. 33 Chevrolet, was fined $5,000 and placed on probation until Dec. 31 for hitting another competitor's car after the completion of the race. That infraction is a violation of Section 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing) of the NASCAR Busch Series rule book.

Lance Deiters, crew chief of the No. 83 Chevrolet driven by Wally Dallenbach, was fined $2,500 for an unapproved third gear transmission ratio. That infraction, discovered during opening-day inspection, is a violation of Section 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and Section 12-4-CC (unapproved gear ratio) of the NASCAR Busch Series rule book.
