Biffle, who qualified fifth, will have to start the race in the rear of the field because of the change. The crash pancaked the right side of the car, but Biffle was able to make it back to the garage. The incident was a virtual replay of the same one suffered by Casey Mears, who blew a right front in the first practice on Friday. Biffle had ran the second-best lap during the session -- 188.298 mph -- and seemed poised to repeat his dominating performance three weeks ago at Atlanta, when he led 151 laps and finished third. "It was hauling the mail. Unbelievable," said Biffle. "Could have won with this car and I think I can win with this car. We will see." His No. 16 Roush Racing outfit will use his car from California Speedway, where he won in February. They will use the same engine that was in the primary car. The backup car was nowhere near as fast as his primary, as Biffle was just 34th in the final practice at 183.107 mph. |
