DOVER, Del. -- Rain prevented qualifying for the NASCAR Nextel Cup and Busch series' cars Friday at Dover International Speedway, meaning the grid for this weekend's races was determined by owner points.

Jimmie Johnson was awarded the pole for the Nextel Cup race, and Greg Biffle will start on the outside of the front row Sunday in the MBNA 400. Johnson leads Biffle by 71 points.

Busch points leader Carl Edwards got the pole for Saturday's MBNA 200, and fellow Nextel Cup driver Kevin Harvick was given the other front-row spot. Busch series regular Clint Bowyer will go from the second row, inside Biffle.

On Sunday, Elliott Sadler will start third alongside Ryan Newman, who has won three of the last four Dover Cup races. The third row belongs to Jeff Gordon, a four-time Dover winner who is tied with Biffle for the most victories this season at three each, and Tony Stewart, who won both races here in 2002.

Harvick will start seventh, flanked by Edwards. Jamie McMurray and series champion Kurt Busch round out the top 10.

• Also, the Truck Series' MBNA RacePoints 200 was postponed until 9 a.m. Saturday.

David Starr, who garnered his fourth career pole with a top speed of 157.577 mph during qualifying Thursday, will start on the front row with Terry Cook.

Ron Hornaday, rookie Timothy Peters and Kyle Busch rounded out the top five at the Monster Mile.
