Wildlife Foundation Shoot announced

Drivers, celebrities to participate in second annual Ward Burton event

Press Release
June 8, 2005
09:53 AM EDT (13:53 GMT)

The Second Annual Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation Shoot will be held on Wednesday and Thursday June 8 and 9 at the Shooting Academy at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa on Pike School Road, just off Route 40 about four miles east of the main Nemacolin Woodlands Resort entrance.

All proceeds of the shoot benefit the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation and its' mission to promote an awareness of the need for wildlife conservation, habitat enhancement and proper stewardship of natural resources through education.

The two-day event kicks off with a youth group from the local 4-H, followed by a barbecue and auction at the Shooting Academy on Wednesday evening June 8 beginning at 6:00 PM. Admission to the barbecue and auction is included with all team packages, or barbecue only tickets can be purchased for $100 per person. "Last years event was such a success that we added a youth day. I appreciate the support from Casey Mears, Jimmy Elledge and my brother Jeff as well as NASCAR, 84 Lumber and Beretta. NASCAR Nation will be on hand filming, I'm really looking forward to the event," commented Ward Burton.

The barbecue and auction will give participants a chance to meet Ward Burton as well as NASCAR drivers Jeff Burton, Casey Mears, Crew Chief Jimmy Elledge along with former Pittsburgh Steelers stars, Shawn Chatham host of Chasing the Dream on the Outdoor Channel and other local celebrities including master of ceremonies John Burnett of KDKA-TV. Please note that celebrities participating in the event are subject to change without notice.

Among the memorabilia being auctioned will be signed NASCAR items from the participating drivers as well as other items from drivers unable to attend the event. Additional items to be auctioned off include a shotgun provided by Beretta and various items signed by former and current Pittsburg Steelers and Pirates players.
