Michael Kinjerski may be an engineering lab technician by day, but catch him any other time and you'll find something sweeter. A dedicated NASCAR fan for over 20 years, Kinjerski combines his love of NASCAR with his favorite hobby -- creating 3-D racecar cakes to help raise money for his favorite charities. Kinjerski meticulously decorates his edible cakes to be near-exact replicas of well-known NASCAR paint schemes at 1/10 scale. | | ALSO | |

He donates his finished cakes to local charities like his church or to help NASCAR charities. Kinjerski created a DeWalt Ford Taurus in front of fans at a Matt Kenseth fan party that raised $1,500 for the Victory Junction Gang Camp. "I love being able to help others through my hobby, it's a great feeling," Kinjerski said. A self-taught cake decorator, Kinjerski's creations have fetched as much as $3,400 in donations. | | | The Kinjerskis pose with their cake and NBC's Matt Yokum. Credit: Contributed photo |

While most of his cakes go to charitable causes, he has made special ones to honor his favorite drivers. Matt Kenseth has enjoyed a custom birthday cake and Dale Earnhardt Jr. received a Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet Monte Carlo to commemorate Earnhardt Day 2005. "The Cakeman" to friends and family, Kinjerski's interest in NASCAR grew out of watching his brother race at local tracks. Having attended several races all over the country, Kinjerski's favorite pastime is experiencing a Nextel Cup race in the stands, surrounded by fellow fans all rooting for their favorite drivers. "You tease each other about who will win but in the end, you tip your hat to the winner," Kinjerski said. "It's all in good fun and you enjoyed a few hours together with great people." |
