Bill Davis Racing teammates Bill Lester and Mike Skinner put their Toyota Tundra trucks on the front row for Saturday's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 at Kansas Speedway.

A total of 31 out of 36 qualifiers broke the 1.5-mile speedway's qualifying record.

Lester posted a fast lap speed of 173.633 mph -- just .089-second quicker than Skinner's 173.138 effort.

The pole was the second in Craftsman Truck Series competition for Lester, who became NASCAR's first African-American pole winner in more than 40 years when he was the top qualifier at Lowe's Motor Speedway in May 2003.

The run marked the third time in four years that Lester, a 44-year-old Californian living in Atlanta, has started among the top three at Kansas Speedway. He finished 10th -- his first top-10 finish -- at the track in 2003.

Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender Todd Kluever, who swapped crew chiefs with Roush Racing teammate Ricky Craven earlier in the week, qualified his Ford third at 172.667.

David Reutimann was fourth in a Toyota with Jack Sprague fifth in a Chevrolet. Robert Huffman, Jimmy Spencer, Brandon Whitt, Ted Musgrave and Todd Bodine were sixth through 10th.

Kelly Sutton qualified her Chevrolet in the No. 32 position. By taking the green flag, she'll make her 33rd series start -- most by a female driver in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
