• Today is Rusty Wallace's 44th start at the track. He has seven wins at Martinsville, second-most to Bristol (9).

• Points co-leader Tony Stewart is on the pole for today's Subway 500. He was the fastest among 11 drivers who broke the track qualifying record, turning a lap at 98.083 mph Friday.

• Jeff Gordon won the April race at Martinsville. Gordon is trying to become the first driver to sweep the season at the track since he did it in 2003.

• We wonder ... since Jimmie Johnson won at Lowe's, shouldn't Greg Biffle win the Subway 500?
