Lap-by-Lap: Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500

Carl Edwards beats Jeff Gordon by 2.713 seconds to win Sunday's Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. It's the first time a driver has swept both races at Atlanta since Bill Elliott did it in 1992.

Lap 324 -- White flag. Edwards, Gordon, Martin, Earnhardt Jr. and Kenseth.

Lap 320 -- Five to go. Edwards is ahead of Gordon by 2.5 seconds.

Lap 305 -- Twenty to go. Edwards pulls out to a 1.5-second lead over Gordon, while Junior is another two seconds back from the No. 24.

Lap 299 -- And Gordon motors past Earnhardt Jr. for the spot right behind Edwards.

Lap 297 -- Junior goes high to get Kenseth for second, as Gordon looms.

Lap 290 -- Edwards races right back to the front.

Lap 289 -- Kenseth gets past Edwards for the lead on the restart.

Lap 285 -- Pit stops, it's Edwards, Kenseth, Earnhardt Jr., Martin and Gordon. Tony Stewart is eighth, Johnson 16th.

Lap 284 -- Edwards laps Jimmie Johnson just before the caution comes out, which means Johnson gets the lap back.

Lap 243 -- Edwards gets around Martin for the lead.

Lap 237 -- Junior has fallen back to fourth, behind Martin, Edwards and Jeff Gordon.

Lap 233 -- Green flag.

Lap 228 -- Pit stops, and it looks like Martin beat Junior and Edwards out of the pits.

Lap 227 -- Casey Mears, running in the top 10, has tire problems, which brings out the caution.

Lap 208 -- Edwards and Junior are side-by-side, with Edwards ahead by .005 seconds.

Lap 195 -- Green flag.

Lap 192 -- Leaders pit again. It's Junior's DEI Chevy, followed by the Roush Fords of Martin, Kenseth, Edwards and Biffle.

Lap 190 -- Caution for debris.

Lap 184 -- Junior leads Martin by 1.3 seconds.

Lap 164 -- Back to green, with the No. 8 Chevrolet at the point.

Lap 159 -- Pit stops for the leaders. On exit, it's Junior, Martin, Kenseth and Edwards. Kasey Mears gets a lap back.

Lap 158 -- Caution. Martin Truex Jr. scrapes the wall.

Lap 138 -- Green flag. Junior is by Biffle and back in the lead.

Lap 135 -- Pit stops, although Biffle stays out. It's Rudd, Junior, Kenseth and Edwards on the way out.

Lap 134 -- Caution. It's Kasey Kahne and Reed Sorenson, making his Nextel Cup debut.

Lap 131 -- Kyle Busch passes Junior for the lead and Greg Biffle moves into second.

Lap 128 -- Twenty-three cars on the lead lap as Earnhardt Jr. brings them back to the green flag.

Lap 124 -- Pit stops for the leaders. It's Junior leading them off pit road.

Lap 123 -- Kurt Busch has heavy damage to the front end after hitting the wall and bringing out the caution.

Lap 120 -- Some green flag pit stops are starting, but none of the leaders have come in.

Lap 109 -- We're a third of the way home. It's Junior, Edwards, Kyle Busch, Martin and Jeff Gordon in the top five.

Lap 103 -- Junior nearly runs into the back of Bobby Labonte while trying to lap him.

Lap 101 -- Edwards and Kyle Busch are the only cars closer than 10 seconds to leader Earnhardt Jr.

Lap 87 -- Junior's lead over Edwards has grown to more than three seconds.

Lap 69 -- Green, green, green.

Lap 68 -- And Green comes in to put Junior back in the lead. One to go.

Lap 66 -- And here come the leaders down pit road for fresh rubber.It's Junior, Kenseth, Edwards and Kurt Busch in that order on the way out. However, Jeff Green leads, as he did not pit.

Lap 65 -- Dave Blaney brings out the caution with a spin. Elliott Sadler will get his lap back.

Lap 60 -- Junior goes back by Stewart.

Lap 59 -- Stewart gets by Junior on the backstretch and gets the five-point bonus.

Lap 55 -- Earnhardt Jr. leads them to the green flag.

Lap 53 -- Mark Martin is going to the end of the longest line, apparently for speeding on pit road. That moves him from first to 26th.

Lap 51 -- Leaders pit. It's Martin, Junior, Stewart and Edwards leading them back onto the track.

Lap 50 -- Caution just as Sadler tries to pit. Looks like he'll lose the lap. Scott Wimmer gets his lap back.

Lap 42 -- Jeremy Mayfield's day may be over. He's reportedly gone behind the wall with what might be a broken crankshaft.

Lap 40 -- Martin, Edwards, Earnhardt Jr. and Stewart have pulled away from the rest of the field, opening up a gap of about four seconds.

Lap 30 -- Kevin Harvick's miserable weekend continues. He started 41st and was just lapped by the leader.

Lap 24 -- And Junior blows by Stewart for second.

Lap 23 -- Here comes Dale Earnhardt Jr. He's gone from 17th up to third.

Lap 21 -- Tony Stewart moves around Edwards for second.

Lap 19 -- Mark Martin goes by Edwards for the lead.

Lap 14 -- Edwards attempts to pass Sadler for the lead and nearly loses it. He wisely slips back behind Sadler and makes the pass one lap later.

Lap 10 -- Back to green, with Sadler up front. Kasey Kahne gets a pit road speedway penalty.

Lap 8 -- Pit stops aplenty, but Sadler, Michael Waltrip and Ken Schrader stay out.

Lap 6 -- Trouble in Turn 2. Rusty Wallace has front end damage after hitting a spinning Kevin Lepage, all caused when Mike Skinner goes hard into the wall.

Lap 3 -- And Carl Edwards obviously didn't hurt the car, since he just passed Sadler for the lead.

Lap 1 -- Ryan Newman brings 'em down to the green flag ... and away we go. Elliott Sadler grabs the lead and Carl Edwards may have scraped the wall.

12:41 p.m. -- Crank 'em up, boys. Let's go racing.

12:37 p.m. -- The invocation and national anthem are out of the way. It's time to start the engines.

12:29 p.m. -- Driver introductions are under way and they're riding around the track in pace cars, waving to the fans.
