A fuel pump is an essential component on a car. Fuel has to be pumped from the fuel tank to the engine and delivered under low pressure to the carburetor or under high pressure to the fuel injection system. In your vehicle, electric fuel pumps run constantly, so after many years of service they can experience wear. Selecting the right replacement fuel pump involves more than just looking up the year, make, model and engine size of your car. It also means choosing a pump that meets all OE performance specifications and fits the same as your original. When replacing a fuel pump, be sure to choose a replacement unit made by a manufacturer that provides you with the proper installation kit. Remember: The pump itself is not the only thing with which you should be concerned. Every time you change a fuel pump, you should also replace the suction filter and any associated hardware and fittings. The suction filter is instrumental in eliminating fuel contamination, ensuring that clean fuel reaches your motor efficiently. |
