NASCAR memoribilia collectors often have questions about the items they've accumulated. Here are our responses to some of your most recent inquiries: Q: I have an old Dale Earnhardt Hot Wheels car that has Mattel Inc. 1974 on the bottom. The car is black with an orange, yellow and gray arrow on the hood that runs down both sides of the car. The car also says Cragar, Bell, Goodyear, Union and Champion along with a No. 3 on each side. Could you possibly tell me what it is worth? -- Minor A: What you have is NOT a Dale Earnhardt car. It is a generic Hot Wheels car with the No. 3 on it. When this car was produced, Earnhardt hadn't even started racing at the NASCAR Cup Series level. This car is probably worth $5-10. | | EMAIL | Got a collectible question? Email us!

Q: I have a signed photo of Rusty and Mike Wallace along with a member of their pit crew. This photo is 8x10, color and the three are standing in front of Rusty's car No. 66 that he drove in St. Louis, MO., when he first started following his father into auto racing. I am estimating that Rusty is about 17 or 18 years old in this photo. Would you happen to know the value of a photo like this? -- Debbie Walker A: An interesting photograph and quite collectible. However, photos don't carry a lot of value because they can be reproduced as many times as desired. I'd place the value in the $8-15 range. Q: I have a 1972 Cale Yarborough No. 11 Kar Kare, a 1972 Mark Donahue Sunoco No. 66 Indy car, and a 1972 Gordon Johncock No. 20 Indy car -- all containing Hoffman's Kentucky Bourbon. What is the value? -- Vtomica A: These decanters are quite valuable-especially if the spirits are left inside. I'd value these at around $150 apiece. Q: My fiancé has a 1:24 scale 2002 Dale Earnhardt Jr. No. 3 Oreo/Ritz Monte Carlo 1:24 scale stock car. It says there was a total production of 112,996. He is sure this thing is really worth something big. Is he right? Thanks for your help with this. -- TobyJean A: It all depends on his definition of big. It's worth around $50, give or take 10 bucks. Q: I have 12 of the Craftsman Truck Series collectables still in the packages from 1995. Could you please tell me what the value of the set would be? I do have the Dale Earnhardt truck in this set and also the Jeff Gordon Truck. These were sold by Craftsman/Sears.--AvaStocks A: The truck you refer to as an Earnhardt truck was not an Earnhardt truck. The No. 3 was owned by Richard Childress and driven by Mike Skinner. The No. 24 was driven by Scott Lagasse, although Gordon did appear on the card. This set is worth $40-65. Q: I have a box of 1991 Maxx Race Cards Factory Set that contains a plastic sealed set of about twenty cards that are silver on the back, with the top card that I can see being a painted drawing of Dale Earnhardt and a picture of The Winston 1990 in the top corner. I am just wonder what the set might be worth.-- Mervin A: This was the Deluxe Mail Order set. It is likely worth $30-35. Q: I have a 1998 Jeff Gordon Monte Carlo. It's made by Winner's Circle and it says it the 50th anniversary. It is the Raindow. I was wondering what the value of it would be.- - Joseph A: If it is a 1:64 scale car, it is probably worth around $20. The 1:24 version is worth around $50. Q: I have an uncut framed set of NASCAR 2000 SP Authentics No. 367 out 408. Do you have any idea of what this collection may be worth? -- Carrie A: Everyone has their own personal opinion about the value of uncut sheets. Personally, I don't see them doing much on the secondary market. Because it is numbered and authenticated, which is a plus, I'd place the value at $50-75. Q: I have a 2000 Hot Wheels No. 4 Bobby Hamilton Kodak Max Film die-cast car. It is in the original unopened box. I was wondering what it might be worth. -- Aboswell A: This is a fairly common car. It's worth $15-20 at best. Q: We have a 1:18 scale 1998 Coca-Cola No. 3 Dale Earnhardt Car with a certificate saying 2004 were made by Revell. Do you know the value would be? -- Kim Roesing A: A pretty decent piece here. It has a collectible value of $150-200. Not bad at all. |
