NASCAR memoribilia collectors often have questions about the items they've accumulated. Here are our responses to some of your most recent inquiries: Q: I have a Dale Earnhardt Jr. Born on Date car from Action Collectables. It is a 1:18 scale car. How much is it worth? -- Robert | | EMAIL | Got a collectibles question? Email us!

A: The value depends on whether you have the 2004 or 2005 car. The '04 version appraises for $75-100 in mint condition and carries the date of February 15. There were two '05 cars: one for Feb. 12 and the other for Feb. 17. Both are likely worth $50-75. Q: I have a 1997 Dale Earnhardt 1:18 scale Wheaties car made by Revell. How much is that worth? -- Peavey A: A great car from the Revell Collection series. There was a tad over 10,000 of these cars produced. I'd put the value in the $100-140 range. Q: I would like to know how many bottles are there in the COMPLETE SET for the Pepsi long neck Richard Petty edition? I looked on ebay and have been told anything from 8-14 is a complete set, however no one has given me all the details of what was written on the bottles, so I cant compare to see who has a real set. And what would be the value? -- Larry A: There are 12 bottles in the set, which was actually released twice. The value is $3-4 per bottle if unopened. Q: I was wondering if you help me out with several things I came into a few days ago. First is a Holly Farms 400 NASCAR Program. It is from North Wilkesboro Speedway and it is dated September 30th, 1997. It is in good shape. I also have a 1993 Card Dynamics Quik Chek Food Stores Dale Earnhardt Metal Collectible Card. The number stamped on the front is 4579 complete with picture of Dale Sr. I also have an old North Wilkesboro Speedway license plate. It has a checkered flag and Confederate flag crossed. There is some rust on it, but otherwise in good shape. -- Joey A: You need to re-check the date on the program. There was no race at North Wilkesboro on September 30, 1997. The track held its final race on September 29, 1996. The speedway tag is probably worth $12-18. The Card Dynamics Earnhardt card is by far the most valuable of the 10 in the Quik Chek set. There were 7000 cards issued, and the Earnhardt is probably worth $30-40. Q: I have a 1999 Dale Earnhardt Press Pass Signings card No. 42 of 400. I was wondering the value of the card. I also have a 1998 Upper Deck Dale Earnhardt Sparks of Brilliance card No. SB3. What is the value of that card?-- KennyIrwinJr.Fan A: The Earnhardt Press Pass Signings card is a great find, and it has a fairly low number. I'd place the value at around $250, give or take $50. The Sparks of Brilliance card should hold a value of $35-45 in mint condition. Q: I have a No. 66 Big Kmart inflatable car. It is a replica paint job, of the give away car Darrell Waltrip drove in the 125s. I believe it was his last season. It is about 40" long, 14" high, and 16" wide inflated. It is blue, black, white, and purple. It was used for promotion at a local Kmart store here in Florida. I would like to know the value. It is in great shape. My grandson and I love the car. -- Alabama 06 A: Now this is what I call a real collectible: an item that wasn't made to be collectible, but turned out to be. I'd place the value of this promotional piece at $20-30. It would be worth a lot more if it were a Dale Jr. car, or even one of DW's more significant rides. Q: I met Davey Allison at Shoney's one morning before the race at Darlington. He was very nice and took time to have a picture made with us and signed my jacket (a GM jacket at that). I know that the signature would have to be checked out -- but I know it is Davey's . What do you think this jacket would be worth? -- Patti Skinner A: I'll tell you what, few drivers left a more enduring memory on fans than Davey Allison. His graciousness, his respectfulness, and his overall appreciation of fans are the things today's generation should take a hard look at. Davey could genuinely connect with folks, much like his father and uncle. Most of your jacket's value lies in the autograph. I'd put its worth in the $100-125 range. And there is plenty of room for appreciation in value over the coming years. Q: I have an autographed 6"x9" postcard that I got signed by Dale Earnhardt Sr. at a race in 1990. The front of the card shows a picture of Earnhardt leaning on the car he was driving at the time and on the back of the card there is some information about his racing career up until 1990. What might something like this be worth? -- Dan Bliss A: Another great autographed item that is bound to appreciate in value. It should be worth $125-175, more to the right collector. Q: I want to know the value of a 1993 Pro Set Davey Allison card No. 89. -- Gimp A: A fairly common card here. It's worth about $1, unless you are a die-hard Davey fan looking to add to your collection. Q: I have a 1998 gold-plated 50th anniversary Racing Champions Bill Elliot car in a leather case. It's never been taken out, and I can't find it in price guides. Can you tell me what it is worth? -- Turner MJD A: This is a car you seldom see anymore. It's part of the Racing Champions Authentics line. I'd put the value at $50-75. |
