NASCAR memorabilia collectors often have questions about the items they've accumulated. Here are our responses to some of your most recent inquiries: Q: I have an Earnhardt vs. Earnhardt promotional poster from Budweiser for the 2001 Daytona 500 where, unfortunately, Dale Earnhardt was killed. Do you have any idea of the value? -- Denise A: A very collectible poster here. I'd place the value in the $30-40 range. Q: I have a limited edition Lee Petty 312-WSB (White Smooth Bone Trapper) collectable knife. It was produced by Hen & Rooster. It is No. 175 of 2000 made. On one of the two four-inch blades it says, "Lee Petty 55 Grand National Wins" and on the other blade it says "Winner of the Inaugural Daytona 500 2-22-59". | | EMAIL | Got a collectible question? Also in its dispaly case it says "Lee Petty 3 Grand National Titles 1954 - 1958 - 1959" I have the original sleeve which says "Lee Petty 42 Stock Car Legends" along with the display case, knife and Certificate of Authenticity. Any idea what this worth? -- Jeff A: This is one of the best collectibles produced on Lee Petty. This knife is worth $100-125. Q: I have a Dale Earnhardt 1983 No. 15 Ford Thunderbird Monogram plastic model kit. It has never been opened and has Bud Moore's autograph. I was wondering how much it is worth. This is the only one I have seen and I have had it for 13 years. -- BBCB67 A: Few people realize it, but unbuilt plastic model kits are among the most stable NASCAR collectibles when it comes to holding or gaining value. There were two kits issued on the No. 15 Earnhardt car. If your model is numbered 2206, it is worth $100-125. The second issue (3150) is worth about half of that. Q: I have a 1993 Maxx Collectors Series Autographed Davey Allison No. 1 of 20. I cannot find any information on it's current value. Can you help me? -- Rooftop A: This card is actually from the 1993 MAXX Texaco Set. A total of 5000 signed cards were randomly inserted into these sets, which were sold in four-card packs at Texaco stations in the southeast. Your card is likely worth $125-150 if it's in mint condition. Q: I have a die-cast car advertising Smuckers Ice Cream Toppings. I believe it was only used for one race and was associated with Brett Bodine Racing. My car is red with the No. 11. I am interested in any info you may have on the car. -- Phil A: Phil, this is a 1:64 scale Racing Champions promo car released in 2002. It's a collectible you seldom see anymore. Josh Richeson drove the car for Brett Bodine Racing in one Busch Series event. Your die-cast is worth $15-20. Q: We have the complete set of the four signature series TV guides and also the set of NASCAR Legends TV guides. These are dated February 1997 and February 1998. What are these sets worth? -- Crudecab A: I'd place value of each set in the $40-50 range. The magazines featuring Dale Earnhardt on the cover make up half the value ($20-25) of each set. Q: I have a 1:24 scale Winner's Circle Dale Earnhardt Chevy Monte Carlo 50th Anniversary Gold die-cast car, made by Hasbro and still in box. I am needing to know the value of this. -- Susan A: One of the more collectible Winner's Circle cars. I'd place the value at $50-75 in terms of collectibility. Q: I have a number of Jeff Gordon cards, but one I have stands out. It is a 1993 Action Packed Prototype of Jeff Gordon. There is a patent number as well as a card number. How much would this bring me?-- grunnpy A: How much it would bring you depends on a number of variables such as condition, the market at the moment, where you try to sell it, etc. In terms of collectibility, that card should appraise for $25-35 under ideal circumstances. Q: I have a 1994 Dale Earnhardt Brickyard 400 Premier Edition 1:64 scale die-cast car. How much is it worth? -- Jakeman A: There were 20,000 of these cars produced. It's worth $40-50. Q: I have a Richard Petty "Tribute To The Legend" knife by Case. It is in a wooden box with a coin with Petty's face on it. What is it worth? -- Joe A: Production on this knife was 2000 pieces. It is likely worth $300-350. Q: I was wondering if you knew the value of a 1994 Jeff Gordon die-cast Chevrolet Crew Cab Dually, comes with an open flat trailer. There were 2,508 made. -- L.K. A: This is a great piece made by Ken Dahlke and the folks at Brookfield Collector's Guild in the years before it was bought by Action. I'd place the value at $100-125, perhaps as much as $150 to the right collector. |
