NASCAR memorabilia collectors often have questions about the items they've accumulated. Here are our responses to some of your most recent inquiries: Q: I have a Richard Petty sticker of his STP car from the early '70s. I got it at Riverside speedway in southern California when I was a little kid. I never stuck it to any thing and it is in very good condition. What's it worth?-Travis A: Stickers like this are really neat keepsakes. It doesn't carry a huge monetary value, though it may one day. Right now, I'd appraise it at $5-8. Q: I have limited edition JEBCO clock that was given to me as a gift in 1997, and I was wondering how much it is worth. It is a Dale Earnhardt "The Magnificent 7" clock showing him standing on the front car with the others lined up behind him and the 1994 Winston Cup Champion trophy in the background. It has his name and No. 3 by his head and Sam Bass '94 signed beside the front car. It is No. 004804 of 10,000 produced.-Bryan | | EMAIL | Got a collectible question? Email us!

A: This is one of the most collectible JEBCO clocks featuring what is arguably Sam Bass' most recognizable illustration. I think this clock is worth around $125. Q: I have 50th anniversary No. 5 Terry Labonte limited edition gold plated die-cast. It's in excellent condition and in a felt-lined case. Can you tell me what it is worth?--Rick A: A nice offering from Racing Champions. It is worth around $40-55 in mint condition. Q: I have a Daytona 500 leather jacket given to the group that sang the national anthem (O-Town) at the 2001 race. I was told it was limited addition. Any idea what it would be worth?-Squamish A: Apparel-especially apparel that isn't driver specific-doesn't carry much value as a collectible unless it has some real significance to it or is extremely old. Right now, this jacket is probably worth around $100. Q: I have a Dale Earnhardt K-2 1956 Ford Limited Edition (all pink) 1:64-scale stock car. Is it worth more than the three or four dollars paid for it?-Jessie A: Ayup, it is. This car is worth $20-30 in mint condition. Q: I have a framed Dale Earnhardt portrait by Sam Bass titled "Black Attack". It is not one of the posters. It is a limited edition numbered 737/1000. Please advise me of the value.--William DeSpain A: A great piece of artwork here. This print is still available from Sam Bass Gallery for $350. Your print would naturally be worth more if the entire edition were sold out. However, with the framing, and considering the collectibility, I'd still place the value in the $500-600 range. Q: I am trying to find out the value of a hat. It's a limited edition 1998 Daytona 500 Champion Dale Earnhardt cap. It is No. 4696 of 15000.-Matthew A: Here is an example of a piece of driver-specific apparel that has some significance. I'd place the current value at $25-30 with plenty of room for future appreciation. Q: We have a limited edition Card Dynamics Alan Kulwicki five card set. What is it worth?-Eve A: This is one of the better Card Dynamics driver sets. This metal card set is worth $50-75 in mint condition. Q: I have a 1995 Finish Line by Classic signed Dale Earnhardt card. What is the value?-Erik A: There were actually three different Earnhardt autograph inserts in this set. Each version was numbered to 250. Two versions are replicas of card No. 89 in the base set and are worth $150-200. The third variation resembles card No. 111 and is valued at $100-150. Q: I came across a 1:64 scale Racing Champions 1992 Daytona 500 set featuring the top three finishers in that race. The drivers are Davey Allison , Morgan Shepherd, and Geoff Bodine. I Paid $3 for the set. Could you tell me how much it's going for?-Frank A: This set still turns up fairly regularly. It's worth $15-20. Q: I have a 1998 Racing Champion 1:64 scale No. 4 Kodak Max Chevy Monte Carlo (opening hood) that has Taurus marked on the valance. Is this worth anything?-Don A: This is one of the more frequently seen misprints. It is worth around $5. The mistake doesn't add to the value unless you're a collector with a thing for mistakes on die-cast paint jobs. |
