"I'm really looking forward to going out to California this weekend, running in the top 15, finishing every lap, learning a lot and just having a good race," Ragan said. "Everyone at Roush Racing has worked real hard to give the rookies some seat time in different series and this is a great opportunity for me to race in the Busch Series with a great team.

"I have never competed at Fontana but I think running the truck race at Michigan, or even Texas or Charlotte, these high speed tracks, will help me out."

Team owner Jack Roush said the decision is not a reflection of Danny O'Quinn's work in the car.

"My decision to put David in the car in California is not a reflection on Danny O'Quinn's performance," Roush said. "I have a great group of young drivers in our developmental programs that I am simply evaluating and giving the opportunity to get some seat time in the different series.

"Danny will be back in the car in Richmond."
