DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Scott Riggs led Preseason Thunder testing for the first time on Tuesday, as wind gusts and higher temperatures held down speeds at Daytona International Speedway.

Riggs' No. 10a Dodge has been among the top-10 cars since the teams unloaded, and his speed of 185.345 mph was the best of the 58 cars who made runs in the morning session.

Joe Nemechek's No. 01a Chevy was second at 185.573 mph.

The top cars have been unchanged all week. Riggs has consistently posted the best speeds among the Dodge drivers, and Chevrolet has been paced by the MB2 Motorsports duo of Nemechek and Sterling Marlin.

Jamie McMurray's Fusion has been the best Ford in two of the three sessions.

Hendrick-powered cars continued to show the way in testing, as they represented six of the top-10 speeds on Monday morning.

One of those cars was the No. 66 Chevy of Jeff Green, who moved from 32nd to 15th to fourth on the charts. Green's backup, the No. 66x, also showed considerable improvement.

"Car is pretty good," Green said. "Both cars are pretty good. I think the cars have slowed down, the wind picked up a little bit. We picked up a little and everyone else, it hurt them."

The track also heated up in the morning, as temperatures rose slightly from Monday's opening session. Green says the conditions were pretty typical for preseason testing.

"We've got a headwind getting into [Turn] 1, and the way the wind is blowing, it only hurt you and doesn't help you," Green said. "It's just hurting the speed for everyone, and not just one particular person, but we deal with it every time we go to Daytona. It is just a test for us to see how we overcome that when we come back. "

Green, 43, made the move to Haas CNC's No. 66 Chevrolets after two unproductive years at Petty Enterprises.

"I am pretty happy with what we got; we have got two racecars that are pretty close to each other and are pretty fast," Green said.
