CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Kyle Busch will not receive further punishment from NASCAR for bumping Casey Mears' car during a red-flag situation during Saturday's Nextel Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway. | | ALSO | |

Officials said the five-lap penalty Busch was given when he returned to the track after missing about 45 laps for repairs and reprimand later in the NASCAR hauler would suffice. Busch was involved in an accident with Mears on lap 99. He got the worst of the deal, spinning out and receiving major damage to his car. Before going to the garage, Busch drove his car into the side of Mears' Dodge, which was parked while NASCAR cleaned up damage from another accident involving multiple cars. That earned Busch a trip to the NASCAR hauler and a five-lap penalty when he returned. NASCAR officials considered further punishment on Monday. Busch finished 36th in the race and fell two spots to ninth in the points standings. |
