WELCOME, N.C. -- Veteran driver Tim Fedewa has joined Richard Childress Racing as the spotter for Clint Bowyer's Nextel Cup and Busch Series efforts. Fedewa has four wins in 333 Busch Series starts. His most-recent win came in May 2000 when the Holt, Mich., native won from the pole at New Hampshire International Speedway. "It's pretty exciting to be part of a championship organization like RCR," said Fedewa. "Up until just a few weeks ago, I was spotting some Busch races on Saturdays but I knew I wanted to work on Sundays, too. "[Mike] Dillon saw me on the spotter's stand and asked me who I was spotting for and I told him who it was, but that it was only on a temporary basis. He asked me if would consider spotting for Clint on both days. It was too good of an offer to turn down. We've got a couple races under our belts already and it seems to be working out pretty well." With Fedewa on the radio, Bowyer finished second at Nashville and fifth last weekend in the Subway Fresh 500 at Phoenix. "We're excited to have Tim on board at RCR," explained Mike Dillon, Director Team Operations for RCR. "Tim has a lot of experience behind the wheel which makes him the perfect fit as Clint's spotter. "We've been making a lot of moves to strengthen the entire organization and this is another step in that direction. Tim is very calm and does a great job. A calm and informed voice on the radio goes a long way toward keeping the driver composed in the car." |
