Scott Wimmer appears to be staying put for 2007, even though his name has popped up in discussions about vacant positions with other teams. | | | Larry McClure |

On Tuesday, Morgan-McClure Motorsports president Larry McClure said not only will the No. 4 continue full-time in the Nextel Cup Series next season, but a second team may be added. "We currently have an agreement in place for our No. 4 car for next season and an announcement is forthcoming," McClure said. "Additionally, we are in negotiations with a prospective partner for a long-awaited second team." That means Wimmer's position is secure, if he wants it. | | | Scott Wimmer |

"We have a viable team here with the necessary components for success, including our driver Scott Wimmer, and it is our intention to have Scott in one of our cars next year," McClure said. Wimmer made his 100th start in NASCAR's premier series at Bristol last weekend but hasn't posted a top-10 finish in the past two seasons. The 30-year-old Wisconsin native, who has five Busch Series victories, is currently 39th in the Nextel Cup driver standings. |
