PITTSBURGH -- Tums has signed a two-year deal as an associate sponsor with Chip Ganassi Racing's Nextel Cup team, beginning with the 2007 season, the team announced Friday. As part of the deal, the Tums logo will appear on the rear decklid of Reed Sorenson's No. 41 Dodge. In addition, the car will feature a Tums paint scheme during the April race weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. David Stremme's No. 40 Dodge will carry the Tums logo on its B post throughout the season and also will feature a full Tums paint scheme at Chicagoland Speedway in July. Tums branding also will be visible on driver and crew uniforms and on team equipment. "Tums is all about speed and providing fast heartburn relief, so sponsoring these two Nextel Cup cars is a great fit for us," said Bill Kollitz, Tums brand manager. "Our core consumers are NASCAR fans, and we feel this sponsorship will be a great way to reach them." During the past two seasons Tums has reached out to racing fans with sampling programs at several tracks. "We are excited that Tums decided to increase their involvement in the Nextel Cup Series with us," owner Chip Ganassi said. "Their participation in NASCAR and specifically with our team makes sense." |
