Roush swaps crew chiefs for Nos. 26 and 99 again

Roush Racing confirmed Wednesday that Carl Edwards and Jamie McMurray will be reunited with their former crew chiefs effective immediately:

• Bob Osborne will return to the No. 99 Ford of Edwards;
• Wally Brown rejoins McMurray and the No. 26 team.

A team official confirmed the crew chiefs would be with the drivers for at least the last two races of the Nextel Cup season, and Osborne most likely will stay with Edwards through next year.

In April, team owner Jack Roush swapped the two crew chiefs in an effort to improve McMurray's performance. It didn't work. McMurray, in his first full year with Roush, is winless and 23rd in the standings.

With Osborne at the helm last year in Edward's first full season, the pair scored four wins, competed in the Chase for the NASCAR Nextel Cup and finished the season third in the points standings.

Edwards is winless in 2006 and failed to finish in the top 10 in points. He currently is 12th in the standings.

• Officials with Office Depot also confirmed Wednesday the company would continue its role as primary sponsor for the No. 99 Ford in 2007.
