Roush shakeup: Tryson moving to lead No. 16

CONCORD, N.C. -- Roush Racing announced Friday that crew chief Pat Tryson will be paired with Greg Biffle for the 2007 season. Tryson has been the crew chief for Mark Martin for the past three seasons.

Tryson is one of only three crew chiefs to lead his team to a position in the Chase for the Nextel Cup every year since its inception in 2004. Chad Knaus (No. 48 team) and Robbie Reiser (No. 17) are the other two.

"I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with Greg in 2007," Tryson said. "Obviously our top priority for next season is getting Greg back in the Chase. He's a great driver and I hope to continue my personal streak of making the Chase with him."

Team owner Jack Roush believes that Tryson and Biffle will find success.

"We have an opportunity in front of us to pair a champion driver with a crew chief that has proven to be a championship level crew chief," Roush said. "Pat Tryson and a number of members of the No. 6 Roush Racing team have shown that they can run for a championship every year.

"Greg Biffle has two championships under his belt and I believe that pairing him with Tryson will be the best prospect for the two of them to run for the championship in 2007."

Biffle's NASCAR record includes Busch and Truck series championships and would like nothing more than to add a Nextel Cup Series champion to the list. He came close in 2005 when he finished second in points, only 35 behind Tony Stewart.

Biffle has nine Cup wins with crew chief Doug Richert and feels confident he can continue to be a top competitor in NASCAR's elite series with Tryson.

"I'm looking forward to the 2007 season and working with Pat Tryson," Biffle said. "I haven't gotten to spend a lot of time with Pat but he's had a good record with Mark in making the Chase three years in a row, so hopefully we won't stop his streak next year."
