KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Kasey Kahne will join the staff at Kansas Speedway to learn the business of ticket sales at a major speedway. On May 16, Kahne will join Kansas Speedway's ticketing staff for the day. He'll meet the staff, take a quick tour of Kansas Speedway's ticket offices, learn some tips on how to sell tickets and then get ready for some on-the-job training with the race fans of NASCAR. | | TRACK PAGE | |

"We're excited that he's joining our staff for the day," speedway president Jeff Boerger said. "The ticket sales staff is the backbone of the racing community. Without them, tickets would go unsold and seats would be empty. We'll need Kasey's help that day as we look to sell out for a consecutive sixth time." Kahne is a defending Busch Series winner at Kansas Speedway, having narrowly edged Greg Biffle. But his new job as a ticket sales agent could prove more exciting. Besides answering some ticket sales calls, Kahne will personally autograph all tickets he sells that day. He's featured on this year's season ticket so his autograph will make the ticket a nice collector's piece for some lucky fans. "I'm really looking forward to experiencing what goes on in this segment of our sport," Kahne said. "When the drivers arrive at the track, this process is already complete. We see the thousands upon thousands of fans in the seats, but we didn't see how they got there. "It's important to me as a driver to understand the ticket process and meet some of the people that make it happen. The fans are the foundation of our sport. I'll have the opportunity to talk with some of those ordering tickets on May 16." Kahne will take calls from ticket buyers starting at 11 a.m. local time (noon ET). The best way to reach Kahne is by calling 913-328-RACE (7223) or by Kansas Speedway's toll-free number, 866-460-RACE (7223). Race fans may also log onto www.racetickets.com or the speedway's official Web site, www.kansasspeedway.com. "Not only will race fans be buying a ticket to one of the most beautiful and fan-friendly racetracks in the country, but they're getting a piece of racing memorabilia from a talented, young driver who will eventually win a NASCAR championship," Boerger said. Kansas Speedway hosts the third race in the Chase on Oct. 1. The Busch Series precedes the Cup race on Sept. 30. The Craftsman Truck Series stops in Kansas on July 1. |
