Jack Sprague made his pit stop early, avoided the short-track chaos and caught a break with a black flag to win the Kroger 200 Truck Series race on Saturday at Martinsville. Sprague started from the pole and got four fresh tires early in the race. But Ted Musgrave stayed out and planned to go the whole way without a stop. |

His plan backfired when he was black-flagged for jumping a restart with less than 50 to go. That allowed Sprague to inherit the lead when Musgrave served his penalty. And that's all the polesitter needed, as he led the rest of the way in the caution-filled race. David Starr and Erik Darnell tried to run down Sprague, but neither could come close and finished second and third, respectively. Mark Martin was fourth, followed by Johnny Benson. Benson cut into Todd Bodine's point lead in the standings, as Bodine trucked home to a 14th-place finish. The margin between Bodine and second-place Benson in the standings is now 79 points with four races to go. Stay with NASCAR.COM for more. |
