Motocross legend Ricky Carmichael's career crossover has already begun. He recently tested a Super Late Model stock car out of Mark Martin's Florida shop, at New Smyrna Speedway as the first step in his transition to stock cars with Ginn Racing. Carmichael recently took a break to answer 10 questions not necessarily connected to his racing career. 1. Ricky, what's at the bottom of your "honey do" list? |

Carmichael: What's at the bottom of my honey do list? Oh, man -- that's a good one. You know what? It's probably putting away dishes after they're done. That dishwasher is full, let me tell you -- and I cannot stand that. That's just a bad deal for me, and I don't know why. But I can't stand it. 2. If you could go back in time, what period in history would you like to live in, and why? Carmichael: Probably, like, the mid-'90s because that seemed like it was a real fun time. It seemed like a lot of people were having good times, then. It seemed like when I first started racing motocross, the guys at the top level were having a lot more fun. It wasn't quite as serious as it definitely is, now. 3. Who is the coolest, or most impressive person or celebrity you've had the opportunity to meet? Carmichael: Oh man, I've met some good people in my life. Would Lance Armstrong count? I met Lance before he won the Tour [de France], so that was pretty amazing. I knew his history and what he had gone through, and how much he had done before he had any health problems, and it was just amazing to have the chance to meet him. 4. What is "must see TV" for you? Carmichael: Oh, it's NASCAR; there ain't no doubt about that. Hands-down, that's it. You know, I thought that our races were too long [and they're 20-30 laps]. If it's a boring race, then yeah, they're too long. But [restrictor] plate racing ain't too long. 5. What was your motorsports dream when you were 10 years old, when you were 20, and today? Carmichael: When I was 10, I just wanted to be a professional motorcycle racer -- that was my ambition. When I was 20, I wanted to win titles in each [motocross] division. And today, obviously, I want to be a good father and a good husband -- and to be a top NASCAR driver someday. 6. What kind of vehicle is your "daily driver?" Carmichael: A Chevy Tahoe is what I drive -- and that's all that I drive. You know, it's the perfect family truck, and it goes off-road if you need to. 7. Which athlete outside of the two-wheel racing realm, do you most admire? Carmichael: I admire anyone that is at the top of their level in any professional sport, just because I know how hard it is to achieve that. 8. Do you have an iPod? What's on that bad boy? Carmichael: Absolutely, I do. Oh, man -- I love music, so I've got everything from country to rock to rap -- it don't matter. I've got about 600 songs saved on there. 9. What is your No. 1 guilty pleasure? Carmichael: Oh, it's French fries and ice cream. Either one after the other, or together, it don't matter. I like 'em both the same, but probably ice cream over French fries. I have no favorite flavor. If it's ice cream, it's going down -- it don't matter what flavor it is. 10. What have you learned about yourself in the last year? Carmichael: It's just how much I've grown up, as a person. And I've learned a lot about who I am as a person. I don't know that I've liked myself each step of the way, but I've learned a lot about myself and I always try to improve, every day. |
