Lap 34 -- Crews are allowed to work on their cars, and nearly each machine has its hood up.

Lap 34 -- RED FLAG: Rain has soaked the racetrack, and the pace car has stopped everyone on pit road. Two crewmembers are allowed to meet the driver.

Lap 31 -- CAUTION FLAG: Kurt Busch has blown his engine and his car is bellowing smoke as it rolls around the track.

Lap 25 -- Scott Riggs is the only car not on the lead lap after cutting a tire following his spin. Jimmie Johnson, after the penalty, is the last car on the lead lap.

Lap 20 -- LEAD CHANGE: Kyle Busch takes control of the lead.

Lap 19 -- Tony Stewart leads but paces the rest of the field for their stops, dodging Scott Riggs' limping car on pit road. Jimmie Johnson is penalized for speeding on pit road two laps earlier.

Lap 18 -- Kasey Kahne hits pit road, along with eight other drivers. Tony Stewart takes the lead.

Lap 17 -- Scott Riggs spins after being hit by Mark Martin. Leader Jimmie Johnson hits pit road. Matt Kenseth joins him. No caution for the spin. Kasey Kahne takes the lead.

Lap 16 -- GREEN FLAG: Jimmie Johnson takes the green flag in the two-wide restart. Drivers have three laps to make the mandatory green-flag stop.

Lap 16 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr., Michael Waltrip (steam flying from his hood) and Dale Jarrett make pit stops under caution to make adjustments. The theory? Make adjustments now and then make a smooth and quick green-flag stop when it goes back to racing.

Lap 14 -- Jamie McMurray hits pit road for four tires, fuel and repairs. The field will have to take the green flag before making their mandatory green-flag pit stop.

Lap 13 -- CAUTION FLAG: Mark Martin clips the rear bumper of teammate Jamie McMurray in Turn 4. McMurray spins through the tri-oval and just tags the wall.

Lap 8 -- Ryan Newman has dropped from fifth to ninth.

Lap 7 -- Greg Biffle has regained control and inches past Ryan Newman to fifth place.

Lap 3 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jimmie Johnson slips below Kasey Kahne to take the lead as flashes go off in the stands.

Lap 1 -- Kasey Kahne leads the first lap, and a wad of cars go three-wide through Turn 4 with Greg Biffle saving his sideways car.

10:22 p.m. -- GREEN FLAG: Kasey Kahne heads to Turn 1 in the All-Star Challenge.

10:17 p.m. -- Cars are rolling onto the track.

10:14 p.m. -- Red Hot Chili Peppers harmonize to the tune of "Gentlemen, start your engines."

10:06 p.m. -- Pat Monahan of Train performs the national anthem.

9:59 p.m. -- The Red Hot Chili Peppers take the stage and present a signed guitar as a donation to the Victory Junction Gang Camp.

9:58 p.m. -- For the first time since 1999, Kyle Petty is in the Nextel All-Star Challenge. He is introduced as the driver voted in by the fans.

9:55 p.m. -- Ryan Newman's crew walks on the stage for introductions in pimp suits, and one jumps into the mosh pit to crowd surf ... but nobody catches him.

9:52 p.m. -- Kyle Busch is introduced, and in his sunglasses, he's booed. He lifts his hand to his ear (Ric Flair-style) and begs for more, then flexes with his crewmembers. Is this a WWE match?

9:45 p.m. -- Introductions have begun, complete with fireworks, a mosh pit and sponsor plugs.

9:32 p.m. -- Scott Riggs has advanced to the Nextel All-Star Challenge, and we're minutes away from introducing the starting lineup.
