Lap 160 -- CHECKERED FLAG: Jimmie Johnson wins the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. It is his first victory at Indianapolis.

Lap 160 -- YELLOW FLAG: Robby Gordon and Greg Biffle crash on the backstretch as the caution comes out. Kasey Kahne loses control and goes head first into the wall with hard damage. Denny Hamlin has some damage and has coasted to a stop.

Lap 126 -- LEAD CHANGE: Kyle Busch takes the lead when Ryan Newman makes his stop. Chad Chaffin is penalized for speeding on pit road.

Lap 125 -- LEAD CHANGE: Ryan Newman is the new leader after Matt Kenseth makes his pit stop. Kevin Harvick pits also from the second position and has trouble avoiding Jamie McMurray on pit road. Jeff Burton is in.

Lap 124 -- LEAD CHANGE: Matt Kenseth takes over the lead after Jimmie Johnson comes in for his pit stop.

Lap 123 -- Greg Biffle is the first car to come in for green-flag pit stops, as a group follows him in.

Lap 116 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jimmie Johnson takes the lead from Matt Kenseth. It is the first lap Johnson has led at Indianapolis.

Lap 115 -- Jimmie Johnson moves into second after battling from 38th following a tire issue. Jeff Burton falls to seventh.

Lap 109 -- LEAD CHANGE: Matt Kenseth gets beside Jeff Burton and runs side-by-side before taking the lead.

Lap 105 -- Jeff Burton will lead the most laps today. It is the first time since Phoenix 2001 he has led the most laps in a race.

Lap 91 -- Denny Hamlin slows for a corner. He is complaining of an ongoing acceleration problem coming off Turn 2.

Lap 39 -- YELLOW FLAG: Jimmie Johnson blows a left-front tire. He rolls around the track off the pace until his debris forces a caution. It was exactly when NASCAR had planned to throw a competition caution.

Lap 30 -- Tony Stewart is up to 12th position after starting 32nd. He is coming up on Carl Edwards, a victim of the accident at Pocono.

Lap 19 -- GREEN FLAG: Jeff Burton leads the field to green. Jeff Gordon gets off pit road just ahead of the leaders but is three laps down.

• Jeff Gordon has the hood up as the team checks the track bar

Lap 16 -- YELLOW FLAG: NASCAR has waved the yellow for a competition caution so teams can check tire wear.

Lap 12 -- Jeff Gordon goes a lap down. NASCAR has warned him that he must pick up his speed or risk being black-flagged.

Lap 9 -- Jeff Gordon is on pit road and changes four tires. There is a bolt broken on the left-front sway bar. He takes no gas because of the competition caution and does not lose a lap.

Lap 7 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jeff Burton takes the lead back from Kasey Kahne. Meanwhile, Jeff Gordon is off the pace.

Lap 6 -- LEAD CHANGE: Kasey Kahne moves past Jeff Burton for the lead. He led 39 laps in this race last year.

Lap 5 -- Joe Nemechek is on pit road for some minor repairs. He brushed the wall while running behind Sadler.

Lap 4 -- Pit road is open but NASCAR is not allowing anyone to take fuel because of the Lap 15 competition caution.

Lap 3 -- YELLOW FLAG: Elliott Sadler spins around in the turn and backs into the wall with heavy damage. He lost air on the back end and spun it around.

Lap 1 -- Jeff Burton pulls away to lead a clean Lap 1 by about six car-lengths.

2:54 p.m. -- GREEN FLAG: Jeff Burton and Clint Bowyer get the Allstate 400 going into the flat Turn 1.

2:47 p.m. -- Today's race is the first time since 1976 that a driver named Waltrip is not in the starting lineup, a mind-boggling string of 940 races.

2:46 p.m. -- Cars are rolling around the quad-oval.

2:39 p.m. -- Indianapolis Motor Speedway's chairman of the board, Mari Hulman George: "Gentlemen, start your engines!"

2:31 p.m. -- Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child sings the national anthem.

2:30 p.m. -- Invocation.

2:08 p.m. -- Jeff Gordon talks about his history at Indy (four victories) and says everyone will start the race conservatively. NASCAR will have two competition cautions so teams can check tires -- at Lap 15 and at Lap 40.

1:59 p.m. -- Wally Dallenbach takes Chris Noth around the track during Wally's World. He's better known as "Mr. Big" on Sex and the City. Wally says his own nickname is "Mr. Big Mouth."

1:48 p.m. -- Carl Edwards gets his chance for rebuttal, and takes advantage. "Tony's just a moron. He never admits he's wrong, and that's a shame," Edwards said.

1:46 p.m. -- Defending winner Tony Stewart is interviewed about his victory and then about the Pocono incident, to which he calls Carl Edwards the "Eddie Haskell of NASCAR."

1:30 p.m. -- NBC is on the air and the immediate talk is the history that drips from Indianapolis.
