NASCAR memorabilia collectors often have questions about the items they've accumulated. Here are our responses to some of your most recent inquiries:
Q: As a gift, my grandson was given a model of Oakwood Homes "Racin Sellabration". It has the date 1999 and name Ken Schrader on it. The No. 15 car is either cast iron (not sure) with looks like enamel paint and sits on a double granite base. The base measures 18.5 inches and the car 16 inches. It has a plate that says Integrity Collectibles, and 416 of 500. It is very heavy. Can you tell me the value of it? -- Linda Kirkpatrick

A: Linda, this car is actually made of porcelain. Integrity did a really nice job with these cars, but unfortunately, porcelain didn't catch on with the NASCAR Nation. The cars sold for around $250 new. However, only the cars made of the Earnhardts and Jeff Gordon -- along with the short-run Jimmy Spencer car -- have seemed to gain any value at all. I'd say the current value of your grandson's car is $100-175.
Q: I have a 2000 Hasbro Winners Circle Dale Earnhardt Limited Edition 1:24 scale car with Oreo logos. Could you please give me an idea as to how much it is worth? I can't find anything on it. -- Stefan
A: That car was actually produced in 2001. It is probably worth $50-70.
Q: I have a set of Action 1:64 scale die-casts featuring all of the NASCAR Winston Cup champions. I have searched and searched, but cannot find any information on this collectible as far as how rare, or how valuable this is. Any information would be so much appreciated. -- Thomas Prevett
A: This is a very nice set. If I remember correctly, there were just under 3500 sets produced. The cars were mounted in an oak display case. This set should have a value in the $150-200 range.
Q: I have a 1:64 scale Jeff Gordon Winners Circle. Daytona 500. Speedweek 1999 No. 24 car in the original box in mint condition with collector card. What is it worth? -- Lee Ann
A: This car is part of a seven-car release that was produced to preview the '99 Daytona 500. It is fairly common, and worth around $8-10.
Q: I was wondering what a Jimmy Spencer 1997 Smokin' Joe's Thunderbird car is worth. It is in 1:18 Scale and there was only 504 made. -- Lawrence Kirkland
A: Based on that production number, I'm guessing this is a Revell Club car. If I'm right, it should be sequentially numbered, and the value would be around $150, give or take $25.
Q: I have a No. 8 Dale Earnhardt 1975 Dodge Lifetime series in mint condition in original box with collector card. I'd like to know what it is worth. - Hawk
A: This replica of the Ed Negre-owned RPM Dodge is known as the bonus car in this particular ensemble. It is valued at $20-30.
Q: My name is Frank Foley I reside in Peabody, MA. I've been collecting Dale Earnhardt memorabilia for about 15 yrs now and now my collection is including Junior's items as well. One item I acquired was a poster of the Winston and I think it's from 1987 it shows the stands with the drivers lining up in front with all autographs over their heads. It has the likes of Earnhardt, Wallace, Kulwicki, Rudd, Allison, Gant, Cope, Bodine Bros, DW, Speed, Martin, Trickle, Schrader, and Elliott I had it put into a very nice handmade oak and birch frame I paid 100 for the poster, and I feel it's worth every penny. Can you tell me is it true what I was told and its value as a collector? -- Frank
A: Frank, those posters used to bring really big money. The, for whatever reasons, R.J. Reynolds reprinted many of them. Of course, that hurt the value of the originals somewhat. I'd say the current value of your poster-not counting the frame-would be $60-75.
Q: I have a 1997 limited edition coin collection that consists of 25 coins with the NASCAR drivers' faces on them and car number. You had to buy a package with an unknown driver coin in it and keep buying these packages till you got all 25 drivers. Would this complete collection be worth anything? I also have about 30 loose duplicate coins- are they worth anything? -- Ethel Stewart
A: I really need a little more info regarding the manufacturer to make an accurate appraisal. I think this is probably the NASCAR Greats set. They routinely sell on eBay for under $10. I'd place the current collectible value at $10-15 each.
Q: I have 1:24 scale No. 11 Mountain Dew paint scheme (1981 Buick Regal) die-cast autographed by DW across the windshield. Is there a ballpark estimate as to what it's worth? I believe the car was made by Motorsports Authentics in 2006. - Zach
A: This car is still readily available on the primary market for around $75, so that's where I'd place the value of the car. DW's autograph is fairly easy to get, so I'd add $25-50 to the price. Hence, your signed DW car is likely worth $100-125.
Q: I have a 1991 Racing Collectables by Revell 1:64 Jeff Gordon Baby Ruth Ford Thunderbird. It is still in the box. Could you please tell me how much this is worth? I bought it in a flea market for about $5. - Renee
A: Renee, I wish I had your luck at the flea market. That Gordon car is easily a $50-70 piece.
Q: In 1997, Benny Parsons came to Defiance, OH for a NASCAR banquet. I won the door prize, a 1969 No. 88 Ford die-cast car (1:64 scale) autographed by Benny that evening. There is an autographed program to go along with this. I believe Benny said he won the Daytona 500 with this car. The car was taken from his collection? What is it worth?- Pete
A: This is a Racing Champions die-cast. Benny ran this car in the '69 Daytona 500, but he didn't win the Great American Race until 1975. The car itself is worth around $10. Autographed by Benny, I'd place the value at $50-75. The signed program should be worth about the same.
