50th Anniversary spawns Daytona collectibles

When the green flag falls on the 43 participants in the 2008 Daytona 500, it will signal the start of the 50th running of NASCAR's Great American Race.

Working closely with NASCAR and International Speedway Corporation, more than 30 of the motorsports memorabilia market's top brands will be creating a bevy of unique souvenirs and collectibles to commemorate the Daytona 500 50th Running.

While many of those products are still in the developmental stage, a number of them have already rolled off the assembly line.

Here's just a sampling of what's already available to jumpstart your collection:

Hunter Glassware

Hunter, renowned for its expansive line of glassware and ceramic drinkware, has created a number of products commemorating the 50th edition of the 500. Among them is a tumbler, a mug, a slat and pepper shaker set, an ashtray, and a handsome four-piece collector shot glass set-all bearing the official "50th Running" logo. Hunter has even produced an eye-catching mouse pad that has to be seen.

Collectibles giant Motorsports Authentics is paying tribute to the Daytona 500 50th Running with a commemorative die-cast car. The No. 08 Chevrolet Impala SS replica is available in 1:24 scale in two levels of authenticity: Driver's Select and Owner's Elite. It is also offered in 1:64 scale Pit Stop and 1:64 scale Winner's Circle versions. Motorsports Authentics also produces a number of other items, including collectible pin sets, honoring the 50th "500."

The Time Factory is celebrating the 50th edition of The Great American Race with this 12" x 12" Daytona 50th Anniversary Calendar from The Time Factory. The 14-month calendar comes with a bonus 12" x 24" poster featuring head shots of each Daytona 500 champion.

Chase Authentics Apparel

Motor racing apparel leader Chase Authentics has a full complement of t-shirts and hats to celebrate one of stock car racing's greatest milestones. Hats feature the official Daytona 500 50th Running logo. T-shirts are adorned with elaborate all original artwork, as well as the event logo.
