A full 14 years after making its debut, the latest edition of Press Pass VIP trading cards boasts the deepest memorabilia roster in the brand's history.
Of course, Press Pass VIP 2007's upscale 90-card base set focuses exclusively on the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. Printed on premium 24-point stock, the base set alone is enough to capture the attention of collectors as it captures the season's hottest action. There are also new behind-the-scenes subsets like Air NASCAR and VIP rides. Each subset demonstrates how NASCAR's best travel in style.
"We're excited to offer collectors more memorabilia than ever before," says Press Pass Product Manager Heather Maillard. "With an expanded roster of race-used glove cards, an all-knew dual memorabilia card, and exclusive 2007 Rookie memorabilia, there will be plenty of opportunities to collect memorabilia from all of NASCAR's top drivers in Press Pass VIP 2007."
For the first time, race-used gloves will be part of the Press Pass VIP line-up. "Get-a-Grip" insert cards showcase a swatch of racing glove from more than two dozen NASCAR stars, including headliners like Dale Earnhardt Jr, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Juan Pablo Montoya. Special "Signature Series Get-a-Grip" cards are autographed by the driver and numbered to his car number.
Another new memorabilia chase set is called "Pedal To The Metal" and pairs a patch or race-used shoe with battle-worn sheet metal.
"Rookie Stripes" is back this year after a successful debut in 2006. These unique memorabilia insert cards are highlighted by an actual piece of the yellow tape that freshmen drivers are required to run on their bumpers throughout their rookie season. With a rookie class that includes international superstar Juan Pablo Montoya, Roush Fenway Racing's David Ragan, and DEI's Paul Menard, these insert cards are guaranteed to be in high demand. And even more coveted will be the Rookie Stripes Autographs, which will be numbered to 25.
Autograph hounds will once again be barking up the right tree when it comes to VIP 2007 as Press Pass Signings offers three distinct levels of excitement with autographed insert cards boasting the signatures of scores of NASCAR personalities, including Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, and Kasey Kahne. And if you're looking for the rarest of the rare, keep an eye peeled for "Press Plate Autographs" featuring four printing plates from each driver's Press Pass Signings card.
Other popular chase sets include short-printed NASCAR Nextel Cup rookie base cards featuring the official Rookie Card logo. Collectors are also busily scooping up Gear Gallery-a holofoil embossed card that is also paralleled in plastic-and Trophy Club-an etched foil card that has also been paralleled in plastic.
