10 Questions: Martin Truex

1. What was the best advice you ever received, and who was it from?

Martin Truex Jr.: I've received a lot of great advice, especially about racing. The best advice I got probably came from my old man. My dad, when I was growing up, about finishing races: You can't learn anything by wrecking.

2. What's your favorite video game?

Truex: I don't have one right now. The favorite one I've played in the past year was Gun for X-Box 360. That was a really fun game.

3. What's your favorite sport, other than auto racing?

Truex: Baseball. I really enjoyed playing baseball growing up. I played until probably ninth grade and then it was time when you had to stay after school and practice every day and I wasn't into that. I wanted to go home and hang out with friends and work on my go-kart or motorcycle or whatever I was messing around with at the time. I kind of gave it up then. I was decent at it. I made the local all-star team most years and did OK with it, but racing's what I really wanted to do.

4. If you could trade places with anyone, who would it be?

Truex: I'm pretty happy with the way things are going for me. I don't think I'd want to be anybody else, really. I'm happy with the way it is.

5. If you could choose someone to play you in a movie, who would it be?

Truex: I've got a lot of favorites. There's like five I could think of who would be cool to do it. Which one looks like me the most? I guess that would make the most sense. Like Matt Damon or somebody like that, I think.

6. What was your first car?

Truex: 1986 Jeep CJ-7. I got my license in '98 so I got it in '97, rebuilt it from the ground up. It had big tires on it, like 38-40-inch tires.

7. If you could take somebody out to eat in your hometown, where would you go and what would you order?

Truex: I'd go to the Crab Shack and I'd order fried shrimp and french fries.

8. What was the last movie you purchased?

Truex: I don't know. My girlfriend does the movie buying. I'm trying to think what was the last one we watched. It was really good. What was the one with Will Smith and his little boy? The Pursuit of Happyness. It was very good.

9. What's your favorite ice cream flavor?

Truex: Mint chocolate chip.

10. If you could play catch with anybody in history, who would it be?

Truex: Play catch? I would say Roger Clemens, but he'd probably break my hand.
