10 Questions: R. Crawford

1. What was the best advice you ever received and who was it from?

Rick Crawford: I guess the best advice I ever got was from my grandfather. It was me determining whether I wanted to race or not and he asked me if I was sure, because he was ready to explain the struggles or the sacrifices and the seriousness about the racing business to me. And when he did, that's when I planned out the future for Rick Crawford.

2. What was your first car?

Crawford: I had a few cars but I guess my first car, when I was 16, my dad bought me an Oldsmobile 442. It was a muscle car, back in its day, and I had a lot of fun with it.

3. What was your worst subject in school?

Crawford: I needed to take two years of foreign language and I picked Latin. And I don't know why. I think it was because some of my friends were in the same class and I just wanted to be with them and have some fun in the class. I really struggled with the Latin language.

4. What's your favorite pizza topping?

Crawford: Pepperoni.

5. What athlete outside of racing do you most admire?

Crawford: Ken Stabler.

6. What's your favorite movie?

Crawford: Greased Lightning.

7. If you could take someone to eat in Mobile, Ala., where would you go and what would you order?

Crawford: I'd go to Ed's Seafood Shed and give them some of the freshest Gulf Coast seafood that it has to offer.

8. Who do you feel has made the most impact on your life?

Crawford: Tom Mitchell [owner of Crawford's Craftsman Truck Series team and founder of a Texas truck stop/RV park chain].

9. What's your favorite TV show?

Crawford: The Andy Griffith Show.

10. Auburn or Alabama?

Crawford: I'm for both until they play each other, and then I'd have to sit on the Alabama side.
