It's nearly impossible to mention Lowe's Motor Speedway without referencing Jimmie Johnson. In his first career start at LMS, in 2001, Johnson crashed and finished 39th. He since has put together a string of 10 consecutive top-10 finishes and in his past eight races there has never finished worse than third.

Johnson has won at Lowe's five times, tying him with Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt for most all time. He's the only driver to win four consecutive races at Lowe's. He won the 2003 Coca-Cola despite starting 37th, the farthest back of any winner at LMS. He led a Modern Era, track-high 334 laps to win the 2004 Coca-Cola 600.

Johnson's average finish at Lowe's is 5.8; his average starting position is 8.2. He leads in nearly every Loop Data statistic. And he's a member of the following illustrious list:

Interesting Fact

5Drivers to win the Coca-Cola 600 after winning the All-Star race: Darrell Waltrip (1985); Davey Allison (1991); Dale Earnhardt (1993); Jeff Gordon (1997); Jimmie Johnson (2003). 2007 All-Star champion Kevin Harvick has just one top-10 in his past 10 points races at Lowe's and has led just two laps there in 12 career starts.

Fun Fact

1985The year Coca-Cola took over sponsorship of the World 600. That same year the soft-drink giant made its ill-fated attempt to change the formula of its popular cola by introducing New Coke.
