It's only natural for J.J. Yeley to expect something good to come from this weekend's travels.
Yeley is one of the Cup drivers who has been competing in the Busch Series full time this season. Daytona was the only race that he missed, and since then he has put together clean runs that have him 15th in the standings. The one thing that has been missing this season is a shining star, and Kentucky, home of Saturday's Meijer 300 (8 p.m. ET, ESPN2) is known for drivers shining brightly.
In his three starts at Kentucky, Yeley has progressively gotten better. He was 11th in his 2004 debut at the track, then led a lap in 2005 before finishing seventh. Then there was last year's historical race.
David Gilliland placed his mark on NASCAR when he shocked the racing world and became the first Busch Series regular to win a race in more than a year. The guy he passed with 11 laps to go: Yeley.
