When it comes to New Hampshire International Speedway, 10 is perhaps the most interesting number that can be associated with the Loudon track. And it has the Chase to thank for that.

This Sunday's Lenox Industrial Tools 300 (1 p.m. ET Sunday, TNT) officially begins the Race to the Chase, the term used to describe the 10 races preceding NASCAR's playoffs, the Chase for the Nextel Cup, which also begins at NHIS.

TrackPass RaceView

Driver specific, Jeff Burton has the most wins in the 24-race history at NHIS with four. Burton's name can be found all over the NHIS record books. He's the only driver to lead every lap en route to victory at Loudon, which he did in September of 2000; and he holds the mark for fewest laps led by a winner with just two in July of 1999. Burton started 38th that day, the deepest in the field of any winner at NHIS.

In addition, Burton holds the track race record with a speed of 117.134 mph in July of 1997, his first victory at NHIS. And he's one of only two drivers -- RCR teammate Kevin Harvick being the other -- with three consecutive top-10 finishes.

All four of Burton's victories at NHIS came in the No. 99 Ford of Jack Roush, which brings us to our interesting fact and that number 10 again.

Interesting Fact

10Victories by Ford and Chevrolet at NHIS. However, only one of Ford's winners still drives for the manufacturer -- Ricky Rudd, who won in 1994. The only other current Ford driver with a win at Loudon is Robby Gordon, who won in a Chevrolet in November of 2001.

Fun Fact

84Annual races in the history of the Loudon Classic, the longest-running motorcycle event in the United States. The Loudon Classic moved from Laconia, N.H., to Loudon in 1964 and was held at Bryar Motorsports Park before the Bahre family purchased the venue and redeveloped it into the present-day New Hampshire International Speedway.

All the Facts

1Top-10 finishes in eight career starts at New Hampshire for Wally Dallenbach, who will be in the broadcast booth this week for TNT. Dallenbach finished seventh in the No. 25 Chevrolet of Rick Hendrick in the July 1999 race at Loudon.
2Place of finish for Carl Edwards in the July 2006 race at NHIS, his only top-10 in five career starts.
2Season sweeps in the 10 years there have been two races annually at NHIS: Jimmie Johnson (2003); Kurt Busch (2004). They also mark the only times any of the track's repeat winners have done so consecutively.
2Drivers who have won at New Hampshire in more than one make: Tony Stewart / Pontiac (July 2000), Chevrolet (July 2005); Ryan Newman / Ford (Sept. 2002), Dodge (Sept. 2005).
3Races at New Hampshire won from the pole: Jeff Gordon (Aug. 1998); Ryan Newman (Sept. 2002); Kevin Harvick (Aug. 2006).
4Top-five finishes for Tony Stewart in the past six races at New Hampshire. Stewart, who has nine top-fives among his 10 top-10s in 16 career starts, has finished first or second in three of the past four races at Loudon, but was 37th in the July 2006 event.
5Different team victories in the past five races at NHIS: Jack Roush / Kurt Busch (Sept. 2004); Joe Gibbs / Tony Stewart (July 2005); Roger Penske / Ryan Newman (Sept. 2005); Kyle Busch / Rick Hendrick (July 2006); Richard Childress / Kevin Harvick (Sept. 2006).
5Races at New Hampshire won from a starting position higher than 30th: Rusty Wallace, 33rd (July 1993); Jeff Burton, 38th (July 1999); Robby Gordon, 31st (Nov. 2001); Ward Burton, 31st (July 2002); Kurt Busch, 32nd (July 2004).
5.0Average place of finish for Denny Hamlin in his two NHIS starts. Hamlin finished sixth and fourth, respectively, in the two races last year as a rookie.
9Drivers to compete in all 24 races at NHIS: Jeff Burton, Jeff Gordon, Dale Jarrett, Bobby Labonte, Sterling Marlin, Mark Martin, Joe Nemechek, Ken Schrader, Michael Waltrip.
10Top-five finishes at NHIS for Jeff Gordon, most of any driver.
10.9Average place of finish for Matt Kenseth in 14 starts at NHIS, best of any driver with more than two starts there. Kenseth has nine top-10s in his past 11 races at Loudon.
14Top-10 finishes at NHIS for Dale Jarrett, most of any driver.
21Lead-lap finishes at NHIS for Mark Martin, most of any driver. He's never had a DNF in 24 career starts at Loudon.
30.0Average difference for Kyle Busch from his two July finishes at NHIS (fourth and first) and the two in September (27th and 38th) from the past two years.
34Place of finish for Chad Chaffin in the Sept. 2006 race at NHIS, his only start there. Chaffin will attempt to make his first starts of the season in any of NASCAR's top series -- he's entered in the Truck Series race at Memphis -- and just his 13th Nextel Cup race when he qualifies the No. 49 Dodge at Loudon for BAM Racing.
39Place of finish for Ryan Newman in the July 2006 race at NHIS, his worst in 10 career starts. Last season marks the only time Newman failed to record a top-10 finish in either race at Loudon.
39Place of finish for Jimmie Johnson in the Sept. 2006 race at NHIS. His worst finish of the year dropped him from second to a season-low ninth in points before eventually winning the Nextel Cup title. It marked the only time in 10 career starts at Loudon that Johnson has finished worse than 15th. Johnson finished ninth in the July 2006 race.
