O'Reilly Raceway Park is old school.

It's a short track in the shadows of the most famous speedway in the world. It's a reminder of where racing came from, and to a lot of folks where it should be headed as well.

So it's only appropriate that it's a place for Morgan Shepherd.

Shepherd's single-car outfit has made 11 of the 21 races this season. He hasn't finished a race yet. In fact his best showing came last week at Gateway, when he completed a season-high 25 laps and finished 39th. The official cause of his DNF: brakes.

His best finish of the season was 38th at Dover, when he completed 20 of the 200 laps. "Our next need is getting us a second motor built and getting a little better prepared to move to the next level," said Shepherd, who runs chassis from a variety of teams.

But as many know, it's not about wins anymore for Shepherd, whose team is called Faith Motorsports and bases its NASCAR operation as an opportunity to share religious faith.

For Shepherd, who has been racing since 1970, there was a time not so long ago that Victory Lane wasn't that far away, particularly at a short track simply called Raceway Park.
